Parent & Player Information
We are excited for the start of the 2016 football season and have some important organizational information that we want to share with you.
Parents and players can get information about our program in this letter and on our website kentridgefootball.com You will find other important information at the KSD website/Athletics and the KR website/Athletics.
We will have a parent meeting on our Annual Picture Day, Saturday, August 27th @ 9 am in the small gym next to the weight room. We will have information about the program, introduce coaches, and introduce parent club leaders.
There are many important forms that must be completed and dates that must be met. Please take the time to read through the information and our goal is for each family to take care of all registration a week prior to the start of football practice on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
Academics & Eligibility
WIAA-Washington State rules are each player must pass 5 of 6 classes spring semester of the 2015-16 school year. If a player did not pass 5 classes, they can take summer school or KR approved online courses to makeup classes. Players who do not meet the minimum 5 classes passed, will practice with the team, however, they will not be eligible to play in the first 4 games of the season. Also, they will be on academic supervision throughout the season.
KSD – Kent School District rules state each player must have a 2.0 GPA spring semester of the 2015-16 school year or a cumulative (includes all HS semesters) 2.0 GPA. If a player’s GPA is below 2.0 in both areas, they will practice with the team, however, they will not be eligible to play in the first game of the season. Also, they will be on academic supervision throughout the season.
KSD is now online! All athletes in the Kent School District must complete the following forms prior to participating in practice or games. Go to the Kentridge High School website and find athletics. You will find the information below.
Kent School District is excited to announce that we are now offering the convenience of online High School Athletic Participation registration for high schools through FamilyID.
FamilyID is a secure registration platform that provides parents/guardians with an easy, user-friendly way to register their child(ren) for our programs, and helps us to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible. When you register through FamilyID, the program keeps track of your information in your FamilyID profile. You enter your information only once for each family member. You may then access your family profile to register for future sports/seasons.
1. KSD Athletic Registration Form, which includes sections on insurance, injury risk, physical information, participation information, concussion information.
2. KSD Emergency Card, which includes emergency contact information.
3. Physical Form – KSD physical forms are good for 2 years, generally we need new physicals from incoming Freshman & Juniors. Any new players or transfers need to have a current physical.
*See flyer for Free Physicals at KW High School on Saturday, August 13th from 9 am to 12 pm
1. All players are required to purchase a Kentridge High School ASB card. Cost is $30. Players with financial hardships, must meet with AD Eric Anderson to discuss their situation and create a plan.
2. All players are expected to complete a Kentridge High School Football Form. Each player will pay a fee of $75. This money covers a wide variety of expenses. This includes: speed training, weight room training, spring/summer/fall camps, coaches supervision fees, team functions/meals, players equipment (TS, shorts, mouth piece), and Hudl access for films/highlights/playbooks. Players with financial hardships, must meet with HC Marty Osborn to discuss their situation and create a payment plan.
All athletes in the Kent School District must wear school issued protective gear like helmets & shoulder pads. KR Football requires athletes to wear gear that meets our color codes which are black, white, or Forest Green (emphasis on game cleats & underarmour). Ask Coach Osborn prior to purchasing gear if you have questions. Athletes who do not have gear are encouraged to come to KR on M-W-F from 9 am to 11:30 am for our summer workouts & receive gear. Summer program runs through Friday, Aug 12th.
All KR Football Players are required to complete a testing program prior to fall practices. We are currently testing athletes during our summer program. Athletes are encouraged to come to KR on M-W-F from 9 am to 11:30 for our summer workouts & receive gear. Summer program runs through Mon, Aug 17th. We test each athlete in the following areas: height, weight, body fat, vertical jump, agility speed, 40 speed, bench press, power clean, and squat.
We are currently updating and adding to our player information lists. We have a player list that includes their cell phone numbers and personal email address. Coaches use this to contact players & we need their email address to connect them to “Hudl” which is our computer program that players use to watch film & study KR FB Playbooks. Also, we have another list with player’s home address, parent’s names & cell numbers, and the family email address. The coaches use this information and the booster club uses this information to contact families with weekly Charger Football News.
We expect all of our players to participate in our #1 Annual Fund Raising event. We work with the Snap Raise Program. Each player will enter 15 + email addresses of family, friends, neighbors, and supporters on the Snap Raise website. These KR Football Supporters can make online donations. This money goes back into the program for equipment costs. Our goal is for each player to get a minimum of $10 (70% of our team at this mark raises the percentage we receive for the fund raiser). Our program goal is to earn $10,000 or more.
All players are expected to attend practice. Coaches are expected to be notified if a player can’t attend practice or must miss a portion of practice. Three unexcused absences will lead to a player’s removal from the team. Players missing a portion or a complete practice will be subject to makeup conditioning and playing status will be affected. Injured players are expected to attend practice and will have an alternate plan for practice. Players are expected to adjust their work, driver’s education, and other obligations around their commitment to Kentridge Football.
Parents can really assist your athlete and our teams by scheduling around our preseason practices and our seasonal practice schedule. It is a big commitment; we expect our athletes to strive for 100% attendance. Preseason practices are scheduled between 2 pm and 7 pm. Our season practices (school has started) are scheduled between 2:25 pm and 5:45 pm. Game schedules vary by program, see attached game schedules.
Important – All players must attend 12 practices before they are eligible for Varsity, JV, or C-Team games.
